Flush diaphragms on end of male threaded seal are typically used for higher pressures and to prevent and minimize recesses where process can build and harden.
The special detail allows the unit to seal against an O-ring rather than the threaded portion of the seal for easier fixturing during test and calibration.

With multiple designs and materials available (shown are only 2 of the most common designs), these seals are commonly used in the pulp and paper industry.
Headbox extended seals with tight tolerance diameters are also available.
